#Boricuasonline unite! As part of our work with the Center for Puerto Rican Studies, we have been producing the first panel ever on Puerto Ricans in Social Media. We could not be any more excited about this, as we get to play with some old and new friends to speak about the ways in which Puerto Ricans are creating, understanding, and sharing community online.

Wanna know who we have lined up for this event? The one and only Julio Ricardo Varela from Futuro Media Group and Latino Rebelsthe renaissance soul Mr. George Torres from Sofrito Media Group and Capicu Poetry & Cultural Showcase, our dear friend and fellow founder of ElPuntoes.com Nuria Net from Fusion (and from pretty much anything Latino Millennials), our new friend and beloved powerwoman, Lynn Ponder fromWeb City Girls, and the super hilarious Lejuan James from, well, Lejuan James. Did we mention that Suset will moderate? Then there’s that.

As if building community and shining light an all things indie, Latino, authentic, de pura alma weren’t enough, we will be moonlighting as chefs for the Lower East Side Brunch club. When the amazing Dipsters and the brilliant Alex Mitow approached us for this little adventure, we couldn’t say no. Why? The answer is simple. We have been looking for a place to try out a concept we have held dear to our hearts for a while: bringing olscul tripletas to New York City. If you don’t know what a tripleta is, only one of the most delicious Puerto Rican sandwiches ever invented, this is the time to let your tongue do the explaining. Seats are limited, so you want to get your tickets pronto.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday from May 21 to May 24th: Loisaida, Inc. brings you a great lineup that culminates on the LOISAIDA FESTIVAL

Loisaida Festival Flyer Back 2015 Final (1)

If you’ve never been to the Loisaida Festival, you are missing out on being part of the past, present, and future of the indie Latino community in NYC. Loisaida has long been the hub of creative activities for Latinos in the tri-state area. This is the birthplace of CHARAS, of the Nuyorican Poetry Movement, the Nuyorican Cafe. Heck, it’s the place where a bunch of misfit Latinos built the very first geodesic dome (think Epcot Center). Art, activism, and an independent ethos intersect in this hood. #LoisaidaFest has been capturing that energy for the past 28 years. No other recent year has shown that so clearly as last year, when Loisaida Festival saw a revamping  Last year, Loisaida Festival saw a revamping that began recapturing that powerful energy that made gave the Lower East Side that vibrant and diverse edge. This year, we are doubling the dose with two days preceding the festival highlighting the Queer Latin@ Community (we like to think of this as our very own tail gating) that then culminated on the Festivities on Sunday. Loisaida’s own and super badass Luis Guzman will host the festivities that include acts like Chicano Batman, Calma Carmona, Herencia de Plena, and Papote Jimenez y su Orquesta.

Bring the kids and the dogs too, as the Carnival Procession and the Theater Lab at the Plaza Cultural will entertain all. Good food, good music, good art wrapped in community. Yes, please.

Schedule of Events:
